A self-playing toy piano. This work has been shown in conjunction with Piano Migration IV, and joins in with the kinetic sound sculpture triggered by a video of birds. It can also be triggered by the mechanical music box (see Piano Migration II).
It was first shown in a different context, at the late night, site-specifc performance Apparitions by composer Stephen Montague (with artist Alex Julyan and lighting designer James Loudon). Performed at Duart Castle on the Isle of Mull, and at Dartington Hall in Summer 2008, the mechanised toy piano chimed away in a small room, echoing a previously heard live toy piano performance.
